TURMEPA and SANMAR Join Forces for Our Blue Bays
TURMEPA, which has been working for 29 years to preserve the blueness of our seas, has further expanded its protective umbrella over our oceans with its waste collection boats. With the support of SANMAR Marine, TURMEPA has doubled the number of boats in Bodrum this year, collecting wastewater from thousands of boats throughout the summer season to help keep our paradise bays blue.
The Sea Clean Association/TURMEPA, in collaboration with SANMAR Marine, has launched an important service in Bodrum, one of the most special regions of our country's marine tourism. TURMEPA, with its iconic waste collection fleet, which has been meeting the increasing demand smoothly every year, has put a new waste collection boat into operation in Bodrum with SANMAR's support. Tekirova I, the 9th boat in the TURMEPA fleet, will collect wastewater from thousands of tourist yachts and boats in the bays between Torba and Türkbükü during the summer season, supporting the preservation of our paradise bays' blue color.
Tekirova I, which was launched in June, will continue to collect waste from boats until the end of October. It is possible to reach Tekirova I boat at 0850 460 67 67, Mavi Hat, from 09:00 to 18:00, six days a week.
Şadan Kaptanoğlu, Chairman of the Board of Directors of TURMEPA, emphasized the importance of the collaboration with SANMAR, saying, "With the support of SANMAR, we have strengthened our fleet by increasing the number of waste collection boats in Bodrum to 2. I wish the new boat in Bodrum, which hosts the paradise blues of our country, and our country to be auspicious. I believe that by working hand in hand, we will carry the blueness of our seas into the future."
Ali Gürün, Chairman of the Board of Directors of SANMAR, stated, "In a region like Bodrum, which has intense boat traffic and where transit times can be long and challenging from one end to the other depending on the wind conditions, we are adding a new one to our social responsibility projects by sponsoring the second waste collection boat to meet the increasing demand."
Our Seas Are Under Protection!
The service provided by TURMEPA's waste collection boats contributes to the protection of ecologically important areas. TURMEPA's efforts to protect the sea from pollution support the rebuilding of fish populations and safeguard marine habitats and ecosystems as a comprehensive system. With TURMEPA's boats, wastewater collected from yachts and tourist boats is prevented from mixing with the marine environment, contributing to a healthy living environment for marine life and preventing the disruption of marine habitats. According to scientific research, 50% to 70% of the oxygen we need is produced by our seas. Therefore, this work is not only crucial for the sea but also for the continuation of life on land.
